QPAC Choir

Stephen and 250 others entertained the packed QPAC concert hall with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra for the spirit of christmas concert. Amy and I went and we had a great time singing along to the carols.
Ziggy, Stephen and I went for a walk over to the new Varsity Lakes train station. The bus interchange was impressive with TVs telling you when the next train and bus would arrive. But the footpaths connecting into the surrounding streets are missing in many spots.

6th Asia Pacific Triennial of Art

Stephen and I went to GoMA to see the 6th Asia Pacific Triennial of Art.We really liked the reindeer in bubbles. My camera had a flat battery so Stephen took this photo with his cameraphone. The white light was surreal.
These skulls were ominous. Stephen tried to disreetly let one go in the gallery, but there was a minor mushroom cloud. Now that the trees are getting a bit taller, the cultural precinct is getting a little nicer.
These little men were fans of the Spice Girls.

You could see the reindeer hair through the bubbles and lots of little people watching upside down in each bubble.

Climbing Flinders Peak

Stephen and I climbed Flinders Peak on the road out from Ipswich towards Boonah. It is quite steep. There is one section up a rock face cliff and some rock hopping. It took us 2 hours to get to the top and one hour to get back down. You can see Brisbane and Cunningham Gap.

The Walk starts at a picnic ground at the bottom. There is another shorter walk up a lower hill we might try next time.

At the top there are some Energex sheds.

Marcus Beach Noosa Tri

Stephen and I spent a week up at Marcus Beach with Ziggy and Stephen's mum leading up to the Noosa Triathalon.

We went up to visit Clifton in his new house at Gympie. He's been working hard as acting manager for the ambulance at Tin Can Bay. His friend Jim was also there for lunch. Jim knew my sister from the police in Ipswich. We went for a few bike rides, including down to Point Arkright at CoolumThis is the bridge that is the finishing shoot for the triathlon. Stephen got nervous even going near the bridge. We went to one of the lookouts and there was 2 grandpas and a girl playing guitars and dancing wildly. She got all nervous when we got there and went and sat on a rock. Was a bit surreal. We went to QTCs the Crucible the next week and I recon she could have been one of those witches for sure.

Dinner Party

Stephen and I had a dinner party on Friday night with some friends.
Maggie Beer did the menu, her cauliflower with fish entree appealed to the more gourmet minded guests, but the alternate baked then fried chicken with olives and raisins was a hit, and then she surpassed herself with a chocolate iced peanut butter cake.

A Bomemian Challenge

Stephen and I succesfully completed the 100km HTM Southbank to Southport cycle challenge in a little under 4 hours. Just to add to the challenge I played a bohemian concert with the Northern Rivers Symphony Orchestra the night before and a couple of hours after the ride as well. I made Seagulls in plenty of time. I was imagining getting a flat and having to cycle like a madman to get there. The logistics of getting the bikes, viola, ziggy, black suit, cycling gear and the cars between milton and the gold coast was a challenge as well until Adrian and Robb offered us a lift back to Brisbane after the Gold Coast Arts Centre concert. We played a series of bohemian music including the bomemian rhapsady by Queen. Apparently (according to Byron) Bomenia is the lower part of northern bohemia. We also played the Carnival Overture and the Maldau. Stephen had not heard of the Maldau as a river so we looked it up and it is called the Vlata as well which he had heard of and been to. We are talking about going to Germany next year so hopefully I will get to see it after playing all the way along it a few times.
